Resident (On-Campus) Undergraduate
Resident Undergraduate Student Meals Plans
Included at no extra fee with your Notre Dame Housing Fee is a choice between two meal plans — either the defaulted Gold Plan or the requested Blue Plan. (For incoming on-campus freshmen and on-campus transfer students who are attending orientation, a Meal Access Card will be provided through orientation for appropriate dining hall access prior to you receiving your ID card in August.)
The first available meal of Fall Semester 2012 (other than those provided during orientation for First Year of Studies students and Early Return department submissions) is August 19, 2012. The last meal of Fall 2012 is December 14, 2012. The last meal of Spring 2013 is May 10, 2013. All Flex Points expire on May 19, 2013.
In short, the Gold Plan provides up to 14 meals per week in the dining halls (and $355.00 Flex Points per semester). The Blue Plan provides up to 21 meals per week in the dining halls and no Flex Points. Over 99% of resident undergraduates choose to remain on the defaulted Gold Plan. There is no difference in cost between the Blue Plan and Gold Plan.
The Gold Plan
This flexible plan (on which all students are placed at the beginning of each semester) provides both Flex Points ($355.00 placed on your ID card at the beginning of each semester) and a weekly allotment of up to 14 board meals in our all you care to eat dining halls (North or South). Flex Points are accepted in select on-campus retail food service establishments, excluding Legends and Sorin's. Unused Flex Points from Fall Semester carry over into Spring Semester (at which time an additional $355.00 are added to your ID card), and all Flex Points expire at the end of the academic Spring Semester, May 19, 2013.
The Blue Plan
A Notre Dame tradition… This plan offers you up to one meal per meal period in our all you care to eat dining halls (North or South) during each meal period when these locations are open. The Blue Plan offers the budget-conscious student an exceptional value.
To request the Blue Plan (instead of remaining on the defaulted Gold Plan), you must submit an email from your Notre Dame email account within the first two weeks of each semester to idcard@nd.edu with “Change to Blue Plan” in the subject line, with your complete name and ndID ‘90’ number in the text, and be sure NOT to spend any Flex Points.
Need More Flex Points or want to add them to a Blue Plan?
Flex Points are non-refundable once purchased. To purchase Flex Points for 2012-2013, send an email *after August 19, 2012* from your ND email address to idcard@nd.edu with your ndID number and the number of Flex Points ($20, $50, $100, $200, or $400) you would like to add to your account for use through during the academic year (8/19/2012 - 5/19/13). Allow two business days for processing.
